Country’s Got a Brand New Bag
by Christoper Wells Since the release on their 1999 double platinum debut, “Tattoos & Scars”, Troy Gentry and Eddie Montgomery have defined and refined modern country music. With their sixth, and what looks like what could be their most celebrated release, “Back When I knew It All”, the boys return in full form bringing up the energy a notch or two in the process. With more than twenty charted singles since their inception, one could say that these fellas are already considered legends in some circles. While they may be legends, I found Troy Gentry to be one cool down-to earth dude that truly appreciates everything that life has bestowed upon him. He could teach a lot of other renowned musicians a lesson in humility and straight-up class with no chaser. |

With the Voice of an Angel
by Paul Roberts Your new record is really great!
That’s really nice of you. Thank you very much.
How is living in New York different from living in Oakwood in Raleigh?
Oakwood was great! I wrote a lot of Bramble Rose in Oakwood. I would never get in my car. We’d make coffee in the morning and my dog and I would take a walk. There was this great graveyard behind my apartment. I’d work and then late in the afternoon I’d walk and get a sandwich. I never got in my car. It was great because all of my neighbors knew that I was a musician and they didn’t mind when I was playing with my windows open. That was a great time there. |
